Q2 turns internet radio on its head

Q2's dinky cube internet radio features literally just a handful of presets for internet radio stations and podcasts - begging the question: just how many internet radio stations do you listen to - and - do you really need more than four presets?

Well, who cares about the real answer, when the quick solution looks as good and works as quirkily as this. The Q2 internet radio connects to a PC or Mac, allowing four stations or podcasts to be set for streaming to the cube over a wireless network.

Tipping the Q2 internet radio unit to its four, er, side sides, selects one of its four streams. Tipping it forward decreases the volume and - you've guessed it - placing it with the speaker down mutes the Q2. Shoving it on its back is ridiculous, why would you want to do that? But on this face there is an on-off switch, headphone socket and - amazingly - a tiny speaker port to enhance bass response. A micro USB socket is also hidden away here.

The Q2 unleashes (is that the right word?) quite an impressive sound for a cube measuring 100mm in each direction. It's also speedy to connect; you just have to remember which side your programme is on.

The Q2 internet radio is available now, with a price tag of around £90.00.
