STOP PRESS Check out our article about Christmas radio stations for the 2017 festive period. The article from 2016 follows below:

Getting into the Christmas 2016 spirit? A bunch of stations clearly are, already available online and digital radio, they are providing 24-hour Christmas music to help you tune up to the big day.

Christmas has come early, as Unforgettable Radio has been broadcasting nonstop festive jazz, big band and swing to get you in the mood since 31st October, providing a little light relief from the wall-to-wall pop of other stations. Tune in on DAB+ digital radio in Portsmouth or listen online to Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Perry Como, Doris Day and Peggy Lee, with a smattering of xmas jazz from Dave Brubeck and Duke Ellington. Harry Connick Jnr and Diana Krall will also provide a more contemporary musical festive twist.

Not to be outdone, running from a 'nice and early' 14th November at 12 midday to just after Christmas, Swansea's The Wave Christmas promises 'round-the-clock seasonal pop and Christmas rock in stereo on DAB digital radio in and around the Swansea Bay region.

Similarly, in Stoke-on-Trent, Signal Christmas brings an early start to the festive season from 14th November for a whole month-and-a-half, playing very familiar Christmas tunes in stereo all day.

Bradford & Huddersfield DAB radio listeners can tune in to Pulse Christmas, broadcasting in stereo throughout the season from 14th November, ending shortly after Boxing Day.

If you can get local stations The Wave, Pulse 1 & 2 or Signal 1 & 2 on your DAB digital radio, look for these extra stations - Pulse Xmas, Wave Xmas, Signal Xmas - on your DAB station list from 27th November, by tuning to them first and looking for these special xmas editions in your DAB station list. You can also retune your DAB digital radio if you're having problems seeing the stations in your list. You can also listen online to these xmas stations by clicking on the station logos (note that you may experience problems in Firefox with these links, so try an alternative browser if no sound plays).

Although Smooth Christmas is not on-air this year (with Smooth Extra picking up the mantle for festive hits, but without its usual name change to Smooth Xmas), never fear as sister brand Heart Extra becomes Heart Extra Xmas, offering a way to listen to nonstop Christmas hits on DAB, via the national Digital One multiplex (that's the bundle of stations that can be heard across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland). Heart Extra Xmas is the only UK-wide Christmas station on national DAB this year.
