Join Radio Cymru Mwy from Monday morning, 19th September

Radio Cymru Mwy launches with Caryl Parry Jones presenting a new breakfast show at 7am every weekday. Joining Carol will be popular voices from Radio Cymru incuding Ifan Evans, Huw Stephens and Dylan Ebenezer.

Familiar and new voices will be on-air every day from 10am until 12 midday on Radio Cymru Mwy. DJ Elan Evans takes over the airwaves for the first month of transmission, with a personal selection of tracks. Tuesdays and Thursdays bring an eclectic mix of music under differing themes. Every Wednesday between 10 and 12, Cymru Mwy will broadcast new and unique programmes, starting with a show presented by theatre artist Gwennan Mair.

Every Friday, Swansea comedian Stephen Cairns will be joined by Kevin Davies to take a light-hearted look back on the stories that have been making the news during the past week.

BBC Radio Cymru Mwy will be available throughout Wales on BBC Radio Cymru Mwy's website, the BBC iPlayer Radio app and on DAB digital radio in South East Wales. BBC Radio Cymru’s programmes will remain the same on FM and on DAB digital radio across Wales.

You'll need to tune to Radio Cymru on your DAB digital radio in South-East Wales (Cardiff, Newport and the heads of the South Wales valleys), wait a few seconds, then look for BBCRCMwy or BBC RC Mwy to pop up in your station list. You won't necessarily find these right next to BBC Radio Cymru in your station list - they might appear before BBC Radio 1 in the list.

Still can't see BBCRCMwy? You can also retune your DAB digital radio to see if you can pick up the station, if you live in and around South-East Wales, or in the coverage area which extends across parts of South Wales and north Devon and Somerset.

You can also listen to Radio Cymry Mwy's looping test transmissions to find out more. The station is broadcasting at a bitrate of 64kbps in mono on channel/block 12C.

In 2013, the local digital radio bundle for Cardiff and Newport moved to channel/block 12C. This improved coverage into places including Merthyr Tydfil, Abergavenny, Aberdare and Ebbw Vale. If you haven't retuned your radio since 2013, you'll need to retune now to make sure you're getting local digital radio stations for South-East Wales - otherwise you won't hear anything when you select some stations.

To receive DAB digital radio services, you need a newer type of radio which can pick up both DAB and DAB+ digital broadcasts over the airwaves through its built-in aerial, to make sure you've a future-proofed way of listening to DAB digital radio. We've links to good models on our pages, or scroll down the page for some quick links to both DAB and DAB+, and internet radio, receivers.
