Pure twins up speakers for Evoke C-D6 home audio system

Pure's contemporary DAB and DAB+ tabletop system offers CD playback and Bluetooth audio streaming in a tabletop form with curved edges, in a modern design.

The system receives both DAB and DAB+ stations when you plug it in, earning it a digital tick. So, you can listen to regular DAB stations, such as Absolute Radio 80s and Radio 4 Extra, while the family can tune in to DAB+ stations such as Fun Kids children's radio, Magic Chilled or Jazz FM. There's also an FM tuner built-in, for Classic FM and BBC Radio 3, if you prefer your listening this way.

The Evoke C-D6 packs twin full-range 3 inch speakers for stereo sound - which a handful of DAB+ stations are using. Your CD collection also greatly benefits from stereo reproduction - with 2 x 10 Watts RMS power output on tap: enough for a room-filling sound. There's also stereo output through the headphone socket - handy if you want to listen without disturbing others, as well as a useful infrared remote control.

A 3.5mm audio socket is available if you don't want to fiddle about with pairing up your smartphone to the C-D6 via Bluetooth (A2DP).

The Evoke C-D6 is an impressive bedside radio; the system lets you set two independent alarms to wake to a DAB or DAB+ digital (or FM) radio station, play a CD, or sound an alarm tone, to a choice of volume setting. An adjustable sleep timer lets you drift off, while the radio turns itself off from between 15 to 60 minutes. A snooze setting is adjustable between 1 and 10 minutes, for an extra few minutes' rest.

The Pure C-D6 incorporates class-leading audio, due to digital amplification circuitry in the wooden style case. The slot-loading CD stage plays regular CDs, as well as CD-R and CD-RW discs for compilation sounds you've created yourself. For the latter two options, the C-D6 will also read and display mp3 track tag information saved with each audio file on the disc.

There are 3 direct-access numbered keys for saving favourite stations in memory, plus an extra button to access presets 4 to 20 using the dial. Stations are recieved through the unit's built-in telescopic aerial.

The tabletop Pure Evoke C-D6 measures in at 135mm high x 370mm wide x 223mm deep and is a robust 3.8kg.

The Evoke C-D6 lets you make the most of your CD collection and those DAB/DAB+ stations that broadcast in stereo. Like all of the new Evoke range, it comes with a three-year warranty.

The Pure Evoke CD-6 is available now from John Lewis at £249.95 or from Amazon for around the same price or less.
