DAB coverage reaches Guernsey; reception boosts in other places

  • Bailiwick of Guernsey gets BBC digital-only national stations

  • Ogmore Vale in South Wales tunes into BBC DAB for first time

  • 270,000 homes now covered in north Worcs/south Birmingham

Listeners with a DAB digital radio on the island of Guernsey can now tune in to national BBC stations 6 Music, Five Live Sports Extra, World Service and Radio Four Extra, thanks to a new transmitter based at Les Touillets.

The new transmitter brings DAB digital radio to the main insland within the Bailiwick of Guernsey, with the neighbouring Bailiwick of Jersey accessing national BBC DAB services since 2011. The new transmitter was powered up on 8th December 2015 on this part of the Channel Islands, in time for Christmas.

Crawley, Sussex and surrounding areas experience a coverage boost for BBC national stations, following the turning on of a transmitter at Little Prestwood Farm due on 19th December 2015.

Boston in Lincolnshire and surrounding villages have had their DAB coverage improved for BBC national stations thanks to a transmitter at Boston Wyberton, switched on in early December.

A Dorking transmitter improves coverage across Dorking and parts of Mickleham and Leatherhead for 6 Music, Four Extra and other BBC national DAB stations.

Plymouth, Saltash and the Rame Peninsula's coverage also improved on 27th November 2015, with a transmitter at Torpoint Withnoe Lane.

Meanwhile, on 4th December 2015, a new transmitter at Haslemere improves DAB coverage for the BBC's national stations across Haslemere and Liphook.

270,000 homes in north Worcestershire and south west Birmingham now benefit from improved DAB coverage, as a transmitter was turned on on 23rd November at Lickey Hills.

Four thousand homes in Ogmore Vale can now tune in to the BBC's national stations, due to an extension of coverage serving Ogmore, Nant-y-Moel and Lewistown (16th November 2015).

A further fifteen thousand homes in Skipton, Barnoldswick and surrounding areas have benefitted from a DAB boost. The BBC's stations have been receiveable here since 30th October 2015.

Chesham - improved DAB coverage for more than three thousand homes in and around Chesham, since 30th October 2015.

A transmitter at Heacham Bottom Farm improves coverage in Heacham, Norfolk and surrounding villages, having been powered up on 29th October 2015.
