Three stations join Lincolnshire DAB as local digital radio is launched in the county

BBC Radio Lincolnshire together with local commercial stations Lincs FM and Compass FM have all launched in stereo on a new local digital radio bundle for the county, allowing more than 400,000 listeners to experience these local stations on the digital platform.

The stations, broadcast on DAB from transmitters at Grantham, Belmont and Lincoln are simulcasts of the FM services for the area, covering a wide area, including more than 1200km of the county's roads. Following the closure of the Yorkshire regional DAB multiplex, Channel 12A has been reallocated to broadcast Lincolnshire's DAB stations.

Lincs Country was planned for the multiplex and may follow at a later date, however, there are no firm plans for a launch date for the station, which formed part of the original bid by the multiplex operator.

Whilst the list of stations currently broadcasting to Lincolnshire on DAB seems quite small, there's a very good chance that more will join the multiplex over the next couple of years, increasing the number from the three currently available.

If you're unsure whether you'll be able to pick up local DAB services, you can view a map of the predicted outdoor coverage area here, or if you're listening inside a building, the indoor coverage area here.

To receive DAB digital radio services, you need a type of radio designed to pick up digital broadcasts over the airwaves through its built-in aerial. We've links to good models on our pages, or scroll down the page for some quick links to both DAB and wi-fi receivers.
