The Wireless over fifties station joins DAB in Yorkshire and London

We're always hearing from disappointed grown-ups about the lack of a radio station playing country and folk music. The Wireless, Age UK's very own online radio station will soon fill this niche for DAB listeners in London and Yorkshire.

The station, which broadcasts interviews with personalities such as Martina Navratilova, Kim Wilde and Doctor Hilary Jones, will be heard on London's 3rd digital radio multiplex - as well as that serving the Yorkshire region - soon.

Alongside a music mix from the fifties to the eighties, specialist programmes covering jazz, country, showtunes, soul, funk, folk and classical music will be broadcast.

Well known broadcasters David Hamilton and Graham Dene feature alongside early evening shows about books, travel and business. The station is already available 24 hours a day online.

To get The Wireless on digital radio when it launches, you need a DAB receiver - a type of radio designed to pick up digital broadcasts over the airwaves via its built-in aerial. If you're interested in picking one up, you can see a wide range to buy on our product pages and view the latest models on our news pages.
