Bang goes the heritage: Who's first to 'give it some Heart'?

After twenty seven years, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire's Chiltern Radio has had its name pulled from under its feet. Listeners tuning in from Monday, 5th January will find Heart in its place.

Listeners to SGR Colchester and SGR FM, Horizon Radio, Hereward FM, Radio Broadland, Cambrideshire's Q103 and Northants 96 can also tune into Heart from Monday.

The change is bound to cause confusion to returning listeners, however, it is part of measures by parent company Global Radio to make its stations more appealing to media buyers by offering a quasi-national network of stations, albeit with local breakfast and drivetime shows. By concentrating on just a few names, such as Galaxy, Heart and Gold, the company hopes this will end confusion for advertisers seeking a local, regional or national campaign.
