Swansea Sounds better in stereo

Dance music anthems station Kiss is now live on the local DAB digital radio multiplex serving the city and county of Swansea and surrounding areas.

The station joins classic hits station Swansea Sound, which for the first time is broadcasting in stereo on the DAB digital platform.

The multiplex officially launched this morning, Saturday 31st January 2004.

Also joining the multiplex imminently are BBC stations Radio Cymru and Radio Wales. Smash Hits Radio, playing current music from the pop charts is also being broadcast on the multiplex.

Listeners with a DAB digital radio in Swansea and surrounding areas should perform an "Autotune" or "Autoscan" with their DAB-enabled tuner or radio to receive the new stations. The Swansea services are now testing on channel 12A.

The current line-up of services is:

  • 96.4FM The Wave

  • Swansea Sound

  • Smash Hits Radio

  • Kiss

Stations due to launch in the near future on the Swansea multiplex are:

  • BBC Radio Cymru

  • BBC Radio Wales

  • Kerrang! (new rock & heavy metal)

  • an oldies and easy listening station such as Magic or Classic Gold

The multiplex joins the existing national BBC and commercial radio stations broadcasting on DAB digital radio in the area and the Wales and West digital radio multiplex, offering a total of 32 radio stations for Swansea on the DAB digital radio platform.
