Two in running for Carmarthenshire radio bid

Programmes in both English and Welsh languages have been lined up by Carmarthenshire Sound and Radio Carmarthenshire, which are both keen to provide a new radio service for the county in Wales.

Radio Carmarthenshire is being backed by next-door neighbours Radio Pembrokeshire and promises to carry details of local events, travel news and sports results.

The music mix throughout the day will be pooled from artists from Robbie Williams to The Rolling Stones, Westlife to Wet Wet Wet.

The competing bid, from Carmarthenshire Sound, proposes a service reflecting local life and local people in the county, with music sourced from the last forty years.

The commercial radio regulator is expected to award the new FM licence in the Autumn.
