Transmitter switch-ons mean improved coverage for DAB in London

Following on from the BBC's announcement about its latest transmitter, four more transmitters have been powered up on the landmark BT Tower, giving much improved coverage of DAB digital radio stations across England's capital.

With the London Olympics less than one hundred days away, broadcasters, multiplex operators, Arqiva and BT Wholesale have been working together to organise, install and commission the new transmitters.

Car drivers and those using public transport will now find that 99 percent of road routes within the M25 are covered by a digital radio signal.

Ahead of handing over the baton to VDL for its transmission services in June this year, Switchdigital have boosted coverage of their services by the installation at BT Tower, two months earlier than anticipated.

Olympic gold medal winner Dame Kelly Holmes and Colin Murray switched on the new digital radio transmitters at BT Tower in London.

Our London radio station listings give website links, frequencies and DAB multiplex info for the three multiplexes serving the area, as well as Twitter and Facebook links for popular stations. Our national station listings provide information about the two national multiplexes - BBC and commercial - serving Greater London, its districts and available throughout Great Britain.

To hear DAB digital radio, you need a DAB radio - a type of radio designed to pick up digital broadcasts through its built-in aerial. A standard FM radio cannot tune in to stations on digital radio. If you're interested in finding out what you can get, check out our range to buy.

Alternatively, listen online through your PC or Mac.
